How each figure is taken

  • Chest: Across the chest 2.5 cm below the armhole, doubled.
  • Waist: Across the narrowest point of the body, doubled.
  • Body length: From the high point of the shoulder straight down to the hem.
  • Sleeve: From the shoulder seam to the cuff edge.
  • Shoulder: Seam to seam across the back.

Measured flat, finished garment. Tolerance ±1 cm (±0.4 in). Take the garment measurement, double the chest figure to compare against a shirt you already own.

What this piece does not do

  • Wool blend. This is the one piece in the catalogue that should not go through a washing machine.
  • Unstructured means it drapes rather than holds a line. It is not a tailored suit jacket.

The thinking

A structured jacket has canvas, padding and a lining, and every one of them holds a fold. Take them out and the jacket can be rolled.

This one has a soft shoulder, no chest canvas and a half-lined back. Rolled sleeve-inward it packs to 1.8 L and hangs out at grade 4 within about 40 minutes.

The cloth is a stretch wool-polyester with enough recovery to survive a full day seated.
