The thinking

The most flexible thing in a bag is a large rectangle of good cloth. This one is 180 × 70 cm, which is the smallest size that still covers a lap.

Merino blended with a little modal so it drapes rather than stands, and finished with a rolled edge instead of a fringe that will tangle.
